Diving Squad Rating:

8.8/10

8.8 / 10

With a stylish and comfortable facilities and many extra activities,  Mermaid II feels a lot more like a luxury liveaboard than a mid pricer.

On top of this, she’s another one of the very few liveaboards that offers Raja Ampat diving trips which also push far down south into the Banda Sea of the mysterious and beautiful Maluku Islands.

Great For: Alternative Dive Routes to the Spice Islands, Non-Divers, Long Trips, Swimming with Sea Snakes

Trip Lengths: 9 – 16 days

Max Guest Capacity: 18

Tours Raja Ampat: December – April. (Tours other parts of Indonesia for rest of year).

Details:

Mermaid II runs a variety of dive trips around Raja Ampat, ranging from central & southern routes to those that push even further south into the mysterious and seldom visited region of the Banda Seas’ Maluku Islands.

Before reaching the Maluku Islands, you’ll also stop to dive at Manuk, an extinct volcanic island where one can dive whilst surrounded by huge aggregations of sea snakes.

The Banda Islands are reached next, where in addition to phenomenal wall diving and the chance to spot marine mammals such as spinner dolphins and humpback whales, there are many exciting extra activities.

Guests can visit Banda Naira village with a local guide, an old dutch fort from colonial times, the museum, local fish market and have breakfast at a nutmeg plantation.

The indoor saloon has tv & video on demand, twin sofas and a library; it’s the perfect place to relax after a hard day’s diving.

Meanwhile, the outdoor “party deck”, is equally spacious and well kitted with lavish furniture and a bar area. All the way up top, guests can soak in rays on the large Sun Deck.

There are 8 spacious deluxe cabins with AC, wardrobes and ensuite bathrooms. In each one is a queen bed and a single. There’s also a budget cabin below deck with climate control and a shared bathroom.

Thai, Indonesian and Western Cuisine is served with in the intimate dining hall with panoramic view windows.

Thanks to the massive dive deck and dive platform, divers can rest assured of easy exits and entries; ensuring a relaxing dive, alongside a friendly and upbeat crew.

“The crew went above , and beyond to make the trip a special experience for all the quests. The food was excellent. The dive briefings were very thorough, and each dive was a different exploratory treat.

I would especially like to thank Montse, the director, and Nico, our dive master. There are others that deserve praise as well, but I mention these two because of the most direct contact.

We put this trip at the the top of our bucket list., it exceeded our expectations. Life long memories that will never fade. This was Raja Ampat. Our next trip will include Komodo”.
