Dolphin Queen runs 3 – 5 night long trips to the Similan and Surin Islands including Richelieu Rock, in Thailand’s North Andaman Sea.
Widely considered to be the country’s best diving region, the Similan and Surin islands have national park status and the special protection this affords them has resulted in their reefs remaining pristine.
There are some spectacular coral reefs and walls here with turtles, black tip reef sharks, leopard sharks and seahorses being a common sight.
When it is possible to do so, this trip also includes a land excursion to visit one of the villages of the Moken, a semi-nomadic, sea-faring Austronesian people whose lifestyle has remained unchanged for centuries.
Onboard, there’s an outdoor dining area with TV & DVD player, where you can chow down on the tasty mixture of Thai and western cuisine freshly prepared.
Heading up top, there’s a large, partially shaded sundeck with hammocks and beds – it’s the perfect place to sip an icy beer and take in the views at the end of the day.
Between dives, guests can also do plenty of snorkeling or get a traditional Thai massage for a small extra fee.
Choose from double, twin or quad cabins, all with AC and sea view windows that open. The quad cabin also includes curtains for privacy.
On the dive deck there’s plenty of space for gear storage and kitting up as well as dive tenders for easy access to the best dive sites. Nitrox is available for certified divers.
Minimum certification required by guests is open water with adventure deep dive – it’s also possible to do the training for this dive at the start of the trip (1800 baht).
You won’t find a cheaper Thai liveaboard than Dolphin Queen anywhere else!
